Portable cabins in Trinidad

We build portable log cabins in Gardner and deliver them to Trinidad in one piece, down CO-69 and south on I-25. Trinidad sits at just over 6,000 feet on the Purgatoire River, thirteen miles north of the New Mexico line, with Fishers Peak standing over the south side of town. Las Animas County behind it is one of the biggest counties in Colorado and most of it is empty, which is exactly the point for the buyers who call us from here. They own rural land, or they are about to, and they want a hunting base, a getaway, or a small home on it without hauling contractors two hours from anywhere.

Las Animas County land and what people do with it

The county around Trinidad is big-parcel country: ranchland, piñon and juniper hills, and canyon country running east. A lot of it sold over the years as large rural tracts to out-of-state buyers who are still deciding what to do with them. A finished cabin is usually the answer. It turns a raw parcel into a hunting camp or a base you can actually use in a single delivery day, and a skid-built cabin in particular suits land where you may want the option to reposition later. Fishers Peak State Park, one of Colorado's newest state parks, has also put fresh attention on the outdoors right at Trinidad's edge.

Getting a cabin here from Gardner

The run is simple: CO-69 southeast to Walsenburg, then I-25 south past the Spanish Peaks country to Trinidad. Interstate miles are the easy kind for an oversize load. Where we spend our planning effort is west of town on CO-12, the Highway of Legends, and out on the county roads, where grades, cattle guards, and gate widths decide what is deliverable. We scout the last stretch to every site before the cabin ships, and if your access will not take the cabin you picked, we say so while there is still time to pick differently.

Built for high-country weather, sized for real use

Trinidad's altitude means the same weather math we live with in Gardner: strong sun, real wind, snow that arrives on its own schedule. Every cabin ships with spray foam insulation standard and a porch decked for decades outdoors. Inside, these are not campers with wood paneling. They are log structures with full kitchens and baths, built in our shop out of the weather, which is why they arrive tight and stay that way.

Park model, modular, or skid in Trinidad?

How Las Animas County treats your cabin depends on whether it is a park model RV, a modular on a foundation, or a skid build. Our Colorado park model guide explains the categories and where park models can be placed, and we help you bring the right questions to the county.

Trinidad questions

Can you deliver to remote land off CO-12 or the county roads west of Trinidad?

Often yes, but it is decided site by site. The Highway of Legends itself is a paved state highway; the question is your turnoff and everything after it. Grade, switchbacks, gate width, and soft ground after weather all matter. We scout the final approach before committing, and where a full-width cabin cannot make it, a narrower model or a different pad location sometimes can.

What rules apply to a cabin on rural Las Animas County land?

That depends on your parcel's zoning and the cabin's classification, and we will not pretend to give you the county's answer for them. Park model RVs, modulars, and skid cabins are treated differently. What we do on every Trinidad-area sale is help you get clear questions in front of the county land use office before you order, so nothing about placement is a surprise.

Does the distance from Gardner to Trinidad change the price of delivery?

Delivery is quoted per job, based on the route, the load, and what your site requires, so distance is one input rather than a flat rate. We keep it straightforward: you get the delivery cost with your quote, in writing, before you commit to anything. No published radius, no surprises on delivery day.
